Cleansing balms for a dissolve-it-all, but hydrated clean
What’s creamy, luscious, melts away makeup and deep cleans the pores? You guessed it- a cleansing balm! If you haven’t yet tried a cleansing balm in your daily routine, you are really missing out. Cleansing balms bring a certain level of performance and luxury to your otherwise “basic routine”- it's like giving yourself a daily facial massage at-home, that you look forward to everyday.
What exactly is a cleansing balm?
Cleansing balms are thicker, velvety-rich cleansers made from natural oils that effectively remove all traces of make-up and the day's impurities, without stripping the skin of its own natural oils. Meaning, skin is left supple, hydrated but completely cleansed. The natural oils in the balm provide a deeper level of cleansing for the pores, dissolving the excess oil that clogs the pores (which can lead to breakouts). And, unlike other cleansers, most cleansing balms can be used around or on the eyes to melt-away eye makeup. Your skin will be left feeling replenished, dewy and glowing- so much you’ll be hooked after one use.
Is a cleansing balm right for your skin?
Don’t fear the word oil! Although cleansing balms are oil-based, they aren’t just for dry skin. One of the best reasons to use a Cleansing balm is that it really does benefit all skin types and concerns. Especially beneficial for those with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin, the balm provides an instant increase in hydration, its natural oils are especially soothing, all while melting away the day’s grime. Oily skin? You can use it too! Actually, the natural oils are very beneficial for this skin type, and as we mentioned earlier, don’t strip the skin of its own natural oils –with an oily/combo skin type this balance is key – maintaining proper oil to moisture balance. For an oily to combo skin, a cleansing balm will break down excess oil on the skin without ever over drying it.
How do you use a cleansing balm?
Apply your cleansing balm using dry hands, beginning on dry skin (depending on the formula, some cleansing balms may direct to then moisten with a little bit of water). Using a dime size amount, warm and melt the balm between the hands and then begin to massage into the face and neck using circular motions. Finally, remove with a warm, damp cloth. Skin is left clean, moist, glowing and fresh!
